I don't think so. I have never read anywhere that it is believed to have a use as far as SB is concerned beyond the formation of the spinal cord during pregnancy.

hi twialdawn
After my son with sb was born, I was prescribed folic acid, and so was my baby, they kept him on a vitamin b complex for years saying this will help save nerves etc. not sure if its true or not, but we did as the doctor said. today at 9 years old, he is doing well, thank God

I would think it definitely could not hurt to try. I have not read anything that support a claim that folic acid can help adults with spina bifida or related disorders, but I definitely don't think it could hurt. There are a variety of other health benefits of folic acid (http://www.seacoastvitamins.com/topic.php?health=folic+acid) as well, so it definitely is a good think to take daily.

I also don't think so, once SB is formed there's no healing with nutrients.
Taking folic acid suppliments, particularly if you don't need them is not totally without risk. Too much folate can mask symptoms of other conditions, I think mostly with the elderly. Too much of anything has side effects.
I just think were there's doubt, don't, when it comes to health.
Why not try the old fashioned way, EAT YOUR GREENS!!
I went through a stage where I couldn't eat fibre, greens, supplimenting with chlorophyll, the concentrated green from plants in liquid form, it was so grosse!!!
