Its been awhile since I've posted. Just wanted to share that the twins are here. Its been a rocky road during the pregnancy and we ended up having to do an emergency c-section at just 28 weeks into the pregnancy. We were terrrified the twins wouldn't make it, they were sooo small due to placenta issues and weighed one pound 10 ounces, and one pound 12 ounces. But I am happy to say seven weeks later, they are such fighters and I am so proud of them. They are still in the NICU due to preemie issues but overall making great progress. Our son Alex who has spina bifida is amazing everyone. None of the docs thought he would make it through the delivery or is first surgery being so incredibly small. The neurosurgeon later told my family that he had never done a repair on a spinal defect that large on such a small baby. Glad I didn't know that at the time. Alex is moving his legs, one more than the other but we are grateful that he can move them at all. He recently had a shunt placed and seems to be more alert since. They also have a foley catheter in, he was voiding but not completely emptying his bladder.
I'm very nervous about learning to cath but I know I have to get over that if thats what he needs. We have a ways still to go before they are out of the hospital but I can't wait for the day to bring them both home, as scary as I know it will be as well. I'm not sure how to post pics here, you can check out their pics and our story on our blog: www.ourdoubleblessings.blogspot.com
Hope everyone is doing well and I'm sure I'll be back with a million questions as we get further in our journey.
