My name is Vicki and I'm 29 living in Texas. I stumbled across this board when doing research online, just to keep informed. I graduated from art school and work as a software project manager. I live on my own and have been since I was 17. I was born with myelomeningocele and I think L3/L4. I wear AFO's on both legs and have since the age of 4 when I had my first major surgery on my back (they corrected my club foot when I was born). After the first nine hour surgery they had to go back in a few days later for another 8 hours. While I have vague memories of my early surgeries I do remember the many foot and leg surgeries, last one I had I was 22. I have been blessed with two wonderful parents. They never told me what I couldn't do and I KNOW that was the best thing they could have done for me.

I'm also an avid bike rider. I ride a road bike and in fact attempted the MS150 (2-day, 150 mile ride) this year and completed 54 miles. I plan on training harder (w/o hurting myself) next year. I also mountain bike and into other outdoor activities.

I have been snooping around the board and have read some interesting comments and articles. I think board can be very insightful / helpful for people living with or caring for someone with SB. I would have liked something like this growing up but maybe I can help others. Please feel free to ask / comment about anything.

Thanks,

Vicki

That is amazing! Right after the holidays I plan to upgrade the board software to include a photo gallery and I can't wait to see a picture of you riding!
