I had to share this with everyone. My son has now reached the age where he has his first little girlfriend. He is almost 13. I don't know if she knows he has SBO or not and I guess at this age it don't even matter. She didn't quite know what to make of me when I walked in to meet her parents. After I left she asked my son if I had a disease (she didn't mean it ugly he said she just didn't know what to call it). He said "No it's like when your born and you can't walk but when you get to know her she is just like everyone else" I thought he handled that well. He was telling me about it and asked me if it was ok what he told her. I told him to handle those situations however he feels is best.
I have to admit I was worried because you could tell she was shocked when she saw me. I guess I didn't want him to be embarassed by me being "different" from the other moms, but as he always has done in the past he just explains things and everything is cool. :)

What a blessing! Sounds like your son is a mature, well adjusted 13 year old! :)

That's so exciting! You have done a good job raising him. He does sound very wise for his age. I hope they keep it simple and light hearted, the first heart breaker can be tough.
Way to go to Angel's Boy!!!First Girlfriend,he must be head over heels, one of the first BIG steps getting to adulthood. In another ten years you and your husband may beeeee Grandparents :-)

He is head over heels he adores her and has all year. She is of course adorable and nice and I am thrilled for both of them. I am not one of those mothers that wants to keep him little I am excited about this new stage of his life. I also look forward to being a grandparent but it has to be at the very least 10 years from now lol.

I was excited by my son's first little girlfriend too. (about 9 months ago.) Until I found out that her mom was letting them go out to a horse barn alone and they were doing a little more "exploring" than I was comfortable with at 13. LOL! Good Luck!
