It's been quite a while since I've posted here about how we're getting on. So much has happened I hardly know where to begin... but this seems like a good way to start:
<Proud parent moment alert!>
This evening we were sitting around playing games and our 3yr old son took out "Snappy the crocodile". Snappy is his favourite - we take turns pressing one of the crocodile's teeth and when someone hits the 'sore' one, Snappy snaps and that player loses. It's pure randomness and it sends him into cascades of laughter every time.
Not just him it seems... The next thing we know, Abby is falling about the place laughing (1st time we've heard this!) and continues every time Snappy snaps. Cue 10 mins of lovely laughter and two brothers (6 & 3) trying to out-do each other hamming it up for their sister. Life is made for moments like this :-)

Quick news roundup...
* Abby's 1st shunt malfunctioned in Aug. They removed it all, plugged up the hole and started again on the other side of her head. New shunt is working great so far (very neat job too, hardly know it's there).
* Her tenotomy was done the day before the shunt malfunctioned. Looks OK, better on her right foot than her left. We're hoping the AFOs will help correct that.
* Her PT/OT has (finally!) been transferred over from the children's hospital to Enable Ireland. We're currently working through a 6 week evaluation with them. There'll be a big meetup between us & all the disciplines sometime in Oct where they'll put together a long-term PT/OT/ST programme.
* She's out of casts - had a brief stint in Markell boots & bar, but couldn't keep them on no matter how hard we tried (yikes that was stress!). Switched to Mitchell AFOs a few days ago and so far they're doing great.
* As of today, Abby can laugh. Beautiful & infectious - I could listen to that all day :-)
* Abbysmum & I are doing well. Very, very tired but happy :) Really looking forward to getting a holiday later in the year!
