Just wondering if any of you happen to take any on a regular basis, or if you avoid any in particular. I have been taking a calcium +D and, while I'm not certain this is the cause of it- I have been feeling more pressure in my bladder. I get that feeling of slight dehydration and a sluggishness ( as I'm sure most of us here have felt when our bladders start acting up).... I have tried googling it to see if there is/ should be any correlation between added vitamin supplementation and an increased risk of infection, and alas have come up short. SO, my question is, have any of you had any issues with taking vitamins??:3a:
Calcium can be constipating, I believe. Because everyone and their mother in my area is being hit with the H1N1 (swine flu) virus, including us, we upped our intake of C and B's. I hear that K is good healing so as soon as we are all over this sickness I am going to add K for Carter and see if it helps his feet that are all broken up.

too much calcium can put you at risk for crystals or stones in your urine...

Be very careful with vit-K, particularly if your blood circulation is not good. It can cause clots, thrombosis and embolisms!

Oh that I've heard before I don't supplement myself with Vitamin K, nor do I touch vitamins E or A, those are too easy to overdose on in pill form. I just take a multi and fish oil and recently added calcium+D. I felt somewhat dehydrated or as though I was experiencing the onset of an infection so I was wondering if anyone else had that experience as far as vitamins are concerned.

Thanks Ziggy I didn't know that. I'd heard that Vitamin D in excessive amounts is not recommended for those with circulation problems but "excessive", it seems, is a relative term. I've read that 40,000 units is what is considered to be the level at which toxicity can occur. I don't get anywhere near that level. Perhaps I just need to drink more liquids when taking these vitamins.
Barb I've heard that magnesium supposedly offsets any constipation that may occur with calcium consumption. Although I have heard that they compete with each other as far as absorption goes. SO a lot of the time I am confused about what to take and how to take it etc...lol
