i read somewhere that doctors have noticed a gradual loss of movement in babies with spina bifida while inutero. this was very disturbing and discouraging to me because she started moving at bout 16 weeks, then stopped for a week or two, but by 18 weeks, she really started moving and has seemed to be getting stronger and stronger. im 25 weeks now and sometimes, she kicks so hard it kinda hurts. i've already had a foot under the rib, that doesnt feel good. but has anyone noticed a loss of movement throughout pregnancy? the literature i was reading said that the amniotic fluid can damage the exposed membrane sac. can someone please enlighten me here?

Hey there, Lola.
During both of my pregnancies, we had the opposite info, so-to-speak. I was always thinking, hmmmmm, if the babes are kicking so well inutero, then pffffftttttt......they're not going to be paralyzed.
Boy, did I have another one coming. I was then informed that for unbeknownst reasons, the babies actually move moreso inutero and once they are born, then you notice the change. I don't know if they know the reasoning by now, but both of my babes were some major kickers. I never had any problems until my daughter stopped moving a couple nights before birth, which they stated was due to miconium (sp).
C never kicked but he swooped from side to side and turned around a lot.
