Lizzie's school wants to trade her aide for a teacher's assistant. I wanted to get her on her own maybe by next year, but her school is so big that I felt an aide was needed for now for safety & directional purposes (she gets lost easily because of visual/spacial issues - directionally challenged :) ). She does need a lot of 1 on 1 help with instructions. She is below average in most subjects - mostly due to memory problems - she can't remember more that 1 instruction at a time.
So - on that note - what are some of your opinions on this. I want her to become independent, not dependent. But maybe the extra instruction will help her toward that goal? I also don't want her being made fun of because she needs the extra help. What do you think?
