Hi
I had a phone call today from the Access Team the OT is coming tomorrow morning to assess my needs. I am worried about it as I'm not sure what he will be assessing but I have major problems with ISC'ing, cleaning up after I have used the peristeen as I cant reach around the back to clean up. I struggle with showering, drying, undressing & dressing, put on my creams for my skin condition. In the kitchen I struggle to stand long enough to cook or clean anything. When I try to do things in the kitchen it makes my pain levels a lot worst. I have tried the perching stool but because I am under 5ft tall it doesn't go low enough for me to use without causing my pain to get worse.

When I try to do self cath'ing I cant reach to put the catheter in I cant get it in. I have tried many different catheters but never been that successful because of the lack of being able to bend my lower back to give the the extra length in the arms. When I am successful getting the catheter in I leak between the catheterization so this makes me very sore in the pelvic and buttocks area. My arms are quite short but have a long body so my arms don't reach as well.

Have you considered having the Mitrofanoff surgery to ease catheterization? It's done through the belly button like how you'd do it the normal way. I haven't officially had my Mitrofanoff surgery but there are threads and a lotta people in this forum that have it done already. So far, they've nothing but praises for it. Try asking around, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to offer you some advice! I'll be having mine done in March! =)
