This is an open section of the forum - Anyone, including rapists, serial killers, identity thieves and Google can read this!
Please use Private Messaging to share information that reveals your identity.
I have edited or deleted all the posts in this thread that reveal full names.
These are the members who have so far expressed an interest in connecting through Facebook:

Please contact them by Private Messaging to obtain their details if you are interested.
If you wish to make it known to other members that you are interested in meeting on Facebook or any other social network site please just say so without revealing your actual contact details.
I also have Facebook - ask me privately for my details - but I don't use it very much and its actually quite boring! All my interesting posts are right here anyway!

I love facebook!!! It keeps me in touch with family and friends that i almost never get to see. It is however very stalker friendly so good job dodger on deleting the info.
Gymp it is just social networking keeping up with everyone you know on one site almost everyone has it so you would be surprised at the people you can find that you forgot you even knew lol. I always have mine up and if i am not home i have it on my ipod. Addicted I know but i don't feel so far from home with it.

Gymp it works like this:
When you join you might enter your school details on your profile - then the program will show you all your classmates who are also on. When you tag the ones you know it gives you access to each other's pages and shows you all their friends and you connect with the ones you know amd the process repeats. You can also join interest groups (Petunia growers of Uzbekistan, etc) and so meet new friends too. Then you post blogs, pics, etc that all your registered friends can see - and you can see theirs.

Maybe I should explain the issue a bit:
On this site we are all more or less anonymous - I can't find your home address or phone number based on information here. BUt we share a lot of very personal information - we tell the whole world that we or our kids are incapable of running away from a criminal attack.
On Facebook nobody is anonymous but there we do not reveal a lot of intimate information.
If we make it possible to link the information here to an identity on FB we make ourselves and our family extremely vulnerable.

I'm on Facebook too (i'll PM those of you that've said you're also on there), but while I agree than protecting our information and preventing a link between here and there is important, I can't see how it can happen if you have appropriate FB security settings. For example, if anyone types my name into FB, they won't be able to access my profile as it's only viewable to people i've 'allowed in', so to speak. Having said that, Facebook isn't the only way of tracing people, so it's probably not a good idea to post your full name on otherwise anonymous forums - there are a lot of weirdos out there!
Thanks,Angel and Roger!

Couldn't agree more, LillyPie. Nice to have you around Dodger.
As for Facebook, although my daughters are both on it and others I know of, I really feel quite worried about anything horrible happening and whilst I have been tempted I prefer not to, at least up to now.Wouldn't want to post my wrinkly face on there anyway.:puke:

Hi everyone,
I've posted here before but it's been awhile. Let me re-introduce myself. I am Scott, 40 year old male from NC. I have myelomeningocele spina bifida and use a wheelchair to get around. Like many of you I have had more operations than I care to remember. One of my operations, when I was 5 years old, was a decompression. I have the distinction of being the 2nd person ever in the USA to have a decompression. I already met one person on here who has one so if there are others of you on the forum who have decompressions feel free to add me to your buddy list or send me a message. I'd love to hear from you. Take care everyone and God bless.

Wow. That's interesting that you were only the 2nd in the US to have a decompression. Zach (age 3) has had two of them. It's amazing how far we've come!!!
Decided to enter the world of FB but quite honestl can't make out what the fuss is all about. --- So I'm contacting people thro' this means instead of texting. The only "good" thing is that I have seen my daughter in her graduation cap and gown which she has never bothered to send me a photo of. Was almost in tears as she looks so lovely and am very proud of her being as at the age of 40+ she has completed a 4 year course at uni to be a teacher.
Unfortunately very rarely hear from her. Such mixed feelings!
But FB, really not that bothered.
