Lately I too have been a little down and out and for the most part it really is for no good reason. I don't suffer from clinical depression but do have panic disorder and OCD but both my therapist and doctor say I have great coping skills. For me I usually get depressed when I'm bored, especially bored at work as I really enjoy being challenged. And well lately it's been a bit slow.

But I am awesome because I have so much going for me that it is easy to forget and focus on the few things I don't have. So I decided to create this post just celebrate and be happy for the following:

1. have a loving family and great friends
2. have an awesome job working in games
3. i get paid well and have health insurance
4. i live in san francisco and have an awesome apartment
5. i have a car and can get around on my own
6. did i mention i produce games for living?!?!?! and sometimes complaining about it doesn't give me much sympathy from friends (in a good way, all jobs have issues regardless of what it is but yeah i literally get to play games all day if I need to)...and was actually paid to relocate to CA from TX to do it.
7. i have faith in God that he will provide all things to me when i'm ready and that he forgives me when I try to rush his plans along.
8. my left knee is getting better after a year and I KNOW I will ride a bike someday soon.
9. have a great boss who lets me leave to doctors appointments and work from home without having to take time off or feel guilty.
10. i'm glad to be apart of this community and know I can come here and people will "get it".

I hope no one takes this as me bragging because I'm not at all, just recognizing how much Ive done and accomplished. Lately I've been wanting a new job for no real reason, complained that its hard to get around but yet I have a car, handicap placard (and wheelchair if needed), wanting more money even though I'm paid more than the average family and I'm just one person. And I too get down about not having someone special in my life and it definitely can suck but I really could have NO ONE. At least now I have family and friends who really care about me. And well that bike thing will happen...I will ride again. And I know for a fact I am not the only one. I know everyone on here is awesome at something or their situation.

That's all :)

Right On T.V.
I tend to be positive about most things myself.I do love life and I love my wife,my Mom,my friends,my sisters,my garden, our 2 houses and my bike.Spring is in the air to boot!!!

Thanks for this Forum too...

I hope you'll be on your bike real soon T.V. I don't know how I'd feel if I couldn't ride mine? (I've been riding a bike pretty much daily for the last 30 some years)

Thanks Vicki - I'm going to try to write my own list here, since I am one of those who does tend to see all the things I can't do and don't have -

1/ I have a family and lots of friends who love me lots.

2/ I have Faith in God and I know that even when no-one else 'gets it', He does (although recently, since I found this website, I've discovered a lot of people do 'get' what I'm going through!!).

3/ I have a car I can drive around (and I got a Sat Nav last Birthday, so now I can stop worrying about getting lost going to new places!!).

4/ I have a great flat/apartment not too far away from Mum and Dad.

5/ My shunt has been fine for nearly 12 years or so now!! (after lots of issues between 18 and 21 Y.O.).

6/ I have a job to go to each day that I enjoy (like most jobs it does have it's bad times, but they are out-weighed by the good).

7/ I belong to a great group for people with disabilities which takes us out on day trips regularly to all sorts of places (I can only go on weekends or when I'm on holidays, because I work, though).

8/ I have a Counsellor who I can phone or e-mail when I need to see her, and a great Psychiatrist who encourages me to be the best I can be.

9/ I have had the opportunity to do lots of travel with my family (mostly because of Dad's work or to visit Dad's family over in New Zealand).

10/ ???

Nothing at all wrong with sharing your awesomeness! Sharing it allows others to appreciate your awesomeness :)

Ok...my turn,
1) I am generally a nice person who cares about others and can empathise with them.
2) I have a job
3) I have amazing friends
4) I have a family living fairly close, who are supportive
5) I have a car and a satnav so can drive around
6) I live on my own and manage my personal care, without too many disasters.
7) I have got a degree and am doing a further education course

Er... can't think of any more but this is a great thread!!

I'm having the same problem as you recently Technovicki. Work has been very dull and not challenging me at all. It's been making me anxious and when I'm anxious, I get depressed!

Sorry you are going through anxious period right now AB; I do hope it picks up for you. When I've gone through a down time at work I try to find things outside of work to compensate, hobbies that have come and gone throughout the years. Thoughts of volunteering always arise and I really should follow through on that. Well I do hope things pick up for you soon. Not sure what you do but maybe you can work with your boss on how you can towards a new position or promotion. I sometimes try that but make it clear to my boss that I don't just want 'busy work'. I'm very blessed with a great boss, almost too great because I can be too honest :)
