Hey,
I have L5 myleo to. It is going to be ok. I know it is hard when you don't know much about it and when the child is born don't feel bad if you feel a bit overwhelmed. That i am sure is normal. All in all i do have to say that everything will be fine. SB in my experience really isn't so bad. By the way i am angel i am 31 years old. If you have any questions feel free to ask. You are going to learn a lot in this group.

Just found out my little boy will be coming at the end of April and has a similar situation to your baby. I am a little scared, too. I have a feeling when we meet these sweet babies many of the fears of the unknown will vanish. I am just looking forward to meeting him and being his mommy so that I can take my mind off of the "what ifs" :)
dont be afraid, when you first see your child, and hold him or her, your heart will take over, and you will fight for the little life you hold in your arms, I have been in your place, and I am very thankful for my beautiful child....and its ok to feel scared and overwelmed it will all fade in time....hugs kali

Hi there and welcome!
I am Pam, mommy to 2 children, both having SB and hydrocephalus; they are 12 & 9. The oldest is almost 13. All in all, I think I'm more concerned about my child turning 13 (we're already starting to see some 'rattitude' if yanno what I mean) :D I remember when I was a teen and if he is anything like I was, I'd best have my heart attack pills nearby. :D
Truly, things may seem a bit overwhelming at first; however, you tend to find out real quickly that life is flying by and next thing you know, the precious babe is turning 1, 2, 13 -- yikes!! :)
Just remember to learn everything you can....arm yourself with knowledge. We are here to help with any questions you may have. Not only is this a place you can gain information, it's from experience, which makes it even better! Don't hesitate to as questions....we're always at the ready! ;)

mommy2cnj.......so both of your kids have SB....and it's not as scary to have them as it is to be pregnant with them right? Cause we are SO nervous!!!!! We have 2 daughter ages 4 and 18m (totally normal pregnancys) and im 22wks pregnant with our 3rd daughter which has been diagnosed with myelo and hydrocephalus!! This has prob been the most nerve racking thing we have ever been thru and i know the surgery will prob WAAAAAY worse. I'm knda feel like i wanna stop time just so i don't have to go thru that whole deal....sounds terrible/selfsh i know =( Please tell me it's not as bad as it sounds.....

Yes, I have both with SB. After birth, there are a lot of things going on. Of course you're an emotional wreck already....you've just given birth. Things tend to go so quickly, however. I now look at my almost 13-year-old's baby book; I can remember them days, due to the photos; at the same time, I think where'd all the time go?! You'll have plenty to keep you busy; however, as a mom to a wonderful human being, it's all well worth any time put into it........just as it was for you when you had your other 2 girls.
You'll do just fine! At times, I think if I had a child w/o SB prior to having my children who have SB, I may have been better prepared. Perhaps others will have their say in this as well, but myself, I think having been a mommy already perhaps may 'lessen the blow' or the initial shock of things. Anybody else feel this way? First time parent of a child with SB or already have children and are preg. with a baby having SB??!!
