Hello all I'm a 38 yr old Spina Bifida patient that was on braces and crutches until age 13 when I had major scoliosis surgery and after that for convenience went to a wheelchair and been doing fine in one ever since... Except for one thing. Because of my clubbed feet I have to wear high top shoes, which are bulky and heavy as tennis shoes for someone that gets little to no leg exercise, and as dressier shoes all I can find are "work boots". So most of the last 10+ yrs. I've just gone with socks on, I've been wanting to find shoes for some time that look more like your average low top shoe, but still I guess grabs the back of my ankle so it stays put but have had no luck. The only idea I've had was to get shoes I like and and take them to a shoe repair place to have a strip of tough leather adder for the extra height but haven't found a place yet. Does anyone out there have any ideas either online shopping or off? Thanks to all in advance.

Best would be to find an old fashioned craftsman shoemaker who can make shoes to your exact specification.
You don't mention where you are?

Played with Google and found this Houston bespoke cobbler: http://www.exoticcustombootsandshoes.com
They look pricy - but quality is worth it.
Anyway It can't hurt to phone them.

Just a btw question: Why were your feet not fixed when you were a baby?
Mine were, so I wear ordinary shoes - though a small size - I shop in the boys section so styles are a bit limited.
