Okay so I'm going "post crazy" my first few days, forgive me. But I have a government job, I had surgery 8 weeks ago and I'm on limited duty so I'm on the computer all day and I run out of work! :p Anyhow, Shy is scheduled for the ACE procedure May 28th. At the beginning talks of this ACE procedure her doctor said I need to clear my schedule for 8 weeks. WOW. I've since adapted so I told my employer, I've been saving up leave time etc. However one of my close friends told me I should check into our health insurance because they should cover the cost to have a nurse at the house 8 hours a day while I work. I was told 24/7 intensive care would be needed for a minimum of 2 weeks. I'm not confident that I trust anyone in my small family enough to watch her for those 2 weeks so I have opted to take a leave of absence from my employer.....possibly up to 8 weeks, we'll see how it goes. Aaaaaanyhow, I called BCBS to whom I pay....300.00 a month for healthcare coverage thru my job and they said, "We'll cover up to two hours per day for 25 days max a year" I couldnt believe it. Granted, I never thought about the in home nurse in the first place, a friend brought it to my attention, but when I started thinking about it, I'm like, why wouldnt they cover the cost?! Then when they said they wouldnt, it's like....REALLY?! Anyone have any other suggestions???
