Archie was born with sb and hydrocephelaus. his head circumference has been steadily increasing since birth , however today we had his head measured and it has grown 2cm in 1 week , which has caused great concern for doctors and myself . got an appointment with the neurologist nexy fri, but a week of worry is a long time .

I hate the wait. :( Here's hoping the week goes quickly for you. If he starts vomiting or gets lethargic, call the neuro's office again and let them know. They may send you to the ER.

If you are worried take him down to ER. I don't know about America but over here if you take a child in with suspected shunt failure they will do a shunt series immediately which involves an x-ray and a ct scan. My daughter's shunt failed twice and the second time she showed no symptoms, except that her head circumference jumped 1cm within a week. She was 4 months old at the time. Archie might just be going through a growth spurt but if you are really concerned you should take him down, for peace of mind if nothing else :)
ITA with ainemc, if you're concerned or if anything else happens that may indicate a shunt failure, get him in to the ER for an u/s or something. We've been squeezed in ASAP 3 times for head u/s's when my sons head grew quickly or he had a lot of pukey-ness. All fine so far, but definitely eased our minds.
