hI All, My name is Mark. I am a 31 y/o Male living with Sb. I live in Melbounre, Australia. I just found this website and it looks the goods. I hope to meet and talk to a few members from here about life adventures. I like most sports, enjoy fishing and love the great outdoors, I get along with most people I meet, I'am happy and humorous except when I get told to clean my room lol. I'am a able bodied walker, I dont normally tell anyone I have a disability as Its not noticable but my family and friends know and understand.

I grew up knowing no different too other people, normal school, normal people, I had to keep up somehow, so I ran. It never really bothered me much. I lived over 3/4 of my life with out knowing other people with Sb, My mum would take me to seminars when I was younger, but I didnt take notice as I was young kid who didnt no no different and enjoyed where I was in life to want to except that I had a disabillity, but times change.

I have since joined a Sb foundation in 2005 and in 2006 became an active Advisory member for SBFV - Spina Bifida Foundation of Victoria! And help run 18+ Social activities for us with Sb. We head to places like the Movies, bowling, theatre restaurants, the Zoo, Zoo twilight music concerts, AFL football, bbq's and chat online, Its excellent and I'am so happy I got out and meet others who have the same disabillity. I have meet and formed lifelong friendships since Joining the foundation in 2005 and wish to meet more people with Sb, life is a journey!

Cheers

Mark

Hi Answer to your question..
My Lesion is between L4-L5 for which I have lost neuropathic sensation, the symptoms I have been faced with is loss of feeling and movement from my waist to below my knee's and into my feet, the feeling is better in my thighs upwards but it will never be 100% below my knee's. I also have slight foot deformaties, bladder incontinence 24/7 and suffer some depression, I now try deal with what I have been handed in life, most days are good, other days I'd rather forget! I believe I'am very luck in respect to others with SB. I also have no symptoms of hydrocephalus.

Regards

Mark

welcome mark! I have a 9 yr old sonwith sb, I like how you faced life with sb, my son goes to regular school, and I dont think he really thinks he is any different then the others , which I am so happy for. I have always thought that is the best approach , becasue its true.
look foreward to hearing more from you
