Hey everyone!! Just wanted to stop in and say hi real quick and fill everyone in on what's been going on in my life lately. I had my gallbladder removed back on August 24th, spend 3 days in the hospital, came home and I'm just about completely healed. I have a follow up with the surgeon on Thursday the 16th, so I'm excited to get that out of the way.

Good news!! I got engaged!! Yay!! My boyfriend, Jason, finally popped the question on September 3rd while were vising my family out of town. It was so sweet and just perfect!! He proposed at the exact same restaurant where we first met in person and all the same people were there to celebrate with us!!

With that said, we also got a bit of bad news. Shortly after getting engaged, we were informed that I would lose my Disability when we do get married. The reason why is because I collect off my Dad's Social Security because he is deceased. Does anyone know any ways around this? Right now, we plan on me just finishing my Social Work degree and hopefully being able to find a job and THEN getting married, but we wanted to get married sooner if possible. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, that's about it for now! Hope everyone is doing great and life is treating everyone well!!

Congratulations! I can't help either; unfortunately, the SS rules vary from state to state; plus, I've never been on disability.

Congratulations!...wonderfull romantic proposal. I wish you both every happiness!

Thinking could that be the secret........get rid of your gallbladder, to get engaged, lol.

No answer from me either on your finances, other than the obvious. Some things will be changing. I think for the better, as two people couple in partnership, financially.....you'd hope? Obviously some decisions/negotiations/transitioning to go through, I'm sure it will eventually smooth out.
Keep enquireing, there must be folk in similar or the same situation, if you can find out how others have handle it.

ps, the paternal old man (none of his buiness) is saying.........you make sure you take care of yourself first!....then as a couple....always maintain some independence....(him too)
