i love to play and watch sports too. i enjoy shooting the basketball around or batting a few balls but as i have mentioned in the past i am pretty big into cycling and enjoy working out at the gym.
and since i live in san antonio, tx, home to the NBA Spurs its currently a pretty exciting time. And of course in the good ol' US of A I enjoy American Football...but I'm also a fan of the MLS Houston Dynamo team.
And yes, I am female who is about to turn 30 but loves competition.

I've never been much of an athlete, gymnastics as a kid, archery as a teen, pistol shooting more recently. I watch cricket and rugby.
My real hobby is Amateur Radio, aka "Ham Radio", this weekend I'm going to participate in a countrywide 48 hour disaster communications excercise.

I took up kayaking 2 years ago and have found it to be excellent for keeping my arms strong. Oddly enough, I get more exercise lugging the kayak to the water. I only have been on lakes and really calm streams......I'm not brave enough for faster streams or rivers....YET!!

I would love to take up canoeing but i cannot swim. Im going to try and sort that out soon, i dont have much choice with my other half being a very good competition swimmer.
I also enjoy walking and camping and go regulary.

I ALWAYS wear a life vest (or personal flotation device) ;)
Even though I am a decent swimmer, if I were to tip and hit my head on a rock and become unconscious or whatever, I'd still have my life vest to pull me to the top of the water.
I started out canoeing with friends, but found that there are some kayaks made that are flatter bottomed & less tippable. That's just my speed! They are fairly easy to get in, although admittedly, not as easy to get out. I bought one used on www.craigslist.com in my community for a really fair price compared to brand new.
I love the water and it's a great way for me to get out on it (or in it sometimes) and not think about much of anything else than the nature around me.

My lower back is not strong enough for paddling and I'm a really lousy swimmer but when I was younger I occasionally sailed a small dinghy as the second crew member handling the jib.

kayaking is great. I done two rivers before, you should try it, its alot of fun, and much more different compared to lakes.

I'd like to, but I am a bit intimidated by the thought of any rapids. Maybe one day I'll get my courage up.
