Ok so every year me and my husband go a bit overboard on the halloween decorations. This year AOL asked him to write a story about it. They sent a crew to film us and our house last week. Just thought i would share in some of the fun with all of you. We sure have a lot of fun making the decorations and I am really glad that the public seems to enjoy them as much as we do.

I am speechless! Your pictures are worth a million ideas!

I thought I did a good job decorating my house for my birthday (which is on halloween), but after seeing your house, my decorations are not up to par. Now I need to go back and re-decorate my house!

Thanks a bunch for sharing!

I had no idea it was that bad but i guess it is. I couldn't do anything but shake my head when i saw that video. The wind was blowing and my hair was all over the place but that was nothing compaired to the sound of my voice! I can't help it though that is just how it comes out lol. I guess you can take the girl out of the south but you can't take the south out of the girl.

Thank you, we go way overboard on our decorations! My husband loves this holiday it is by far his favorite. I just let him run with it i don't try to stop him at all. I figured more than one time our neighbors were going to think we were completly certifiable! They seem to like it. Some of the kids don't want to trick or treat at our house because they get scared and some of them say it looks to spooky even without the decorations.
We have already got started drawing stuff up for next year.
My son's birthday is also on halloween :) Happy early birthday!

A lot of "forriners fahnd the Sarf Effriken English eksent" to be very strange too.
The easiest way to get us cross is to accuse us of being Aussies.
Now that is a truly wierd accent - I once heard Steve Irwin talk about "woild rawk whoarlibbies" it took me a while to figure out they were actually "wild rock wallabies".

Great story! Enjoyed the video, but enjoyed your husband's writing more.

BTW -- I don't think your accent is all that strong, but then again, consider where I live!

You don't want to hear the various Asian accents I am able to speak English!
Example: English is very hard
Indonesian accent: Inggelis is ferry haret
Japanese accent: Ingritze izu berry ha-do
Chinese accent: Inggeli i-se weiwi hade

I can speak broken English till you drop. Don't think you will never get outspoken by someone who speaks broken English. :sign0020:

I think its the contrast against your husband's accent that makes yours stand out.
Were the kids away or just camera shy?

Love yer house Angel...Gotta admire the older homes that were made with "real" two by fours.I love the wrap around veranda too,I'll bet it's a great place to sit in in the summer.

Your husband kinda reminds me of the guy who lives across the street and one house over from us,he does up his old garage for halloween to make it super ghoulish and creepy,he sits in the back of it and the kiddies have to walk all the way back there in the dark to get their candy.I've seen the odd terrified kid come running out screaming to their parents. The guy by our house hasn't got as much done to his place as your family's done to yours....Hats off to your husband and you for making Halloween an event that kids who stop by your place will remember long after they've grown up,it's great!

Boo!

They were at school, but neither of them would have wanted to be in front of a camera. In the picture in the story where there are the 3 of us standing in front of the grim reaper that is my son standing behind me.

That was so neat! I had to show it to my kids and they just loved it. They said it was so cool!! I'm from the south too so you didn't sound weird at all to me. lol

Can I come trick-or-treating at your house?

angel
10-26-2010, 01:27 AM
you most certianly can! Got a TON of candy cause we get a ton of trick or treaters. I will say it is best to come at the end of the night cause we usually buy to much to make sure we don't run out. The kids who are the last ones to stop by hit the candy jackpot!!!

our house was nominated for best decorated in a local contest. The voting is online so if any of my friends here want to go vote for our house that would be awesome. Yes i know shameless solicitation of votes lol but i am a competitor :)
