I had to share the good news. My son went to see the urologist yesterday. She took x rays because last time she saw him he was impacted again and had a slight bladder infection. This time she said the impaction was completly gone and that he looked so good that she wanted to try taking him off of the septra to see how he did. We are on a 3 month trial to see if he can keep bladder infections away. Now he is only on one medication. I was excited about it i will be really excited if he is able to stay off the meds.

That explains why I didn't know what it was...C has never had a UTI (very odd, huh?) and does asful with sulpha based drugs:21a:

same here with sulfa based drugs...had an awful allergic reaction to sulfa as a child and very important to remember as many doctors like to prescribe that for UI treatment.

I just knew that it was a med to keep away infection. I didn't know what it was based with. I took it from the time i was a baby until i was 9 years old. Then i took Macrodantin for 20 years then they put me back on septra. It is funny because my son started out on the macrodantin and then went to the septra. I swear it is funny how our SB is so different his being occulta and mine being myleo and yet things are so similar.

I've been on Macrodantin and Clavumox since my heart operation. The cardiologist said that any bacterial infection can cause a plaque to form on my ceramic heart valve which could kill me.
In addition I'm on Warfarin to prevent blood clots from forming on the valve - and also killing me!
