Recently we rec'd notice from our medical supply company that Triad was recalling many of their lubrication tubes. We had to send back several tubes of the lubricant and they sent us replacements made by Reliamed. So for a few weeks now we've been using the new product......

The past several days I've been noticing a yellow tinged discharge when I cath her. This has been a sign of infection in the past but I'm not noticing any other symptoms. Typically she complains of pain and I'll notice gunky urine, but not this time. That has me wondering if the new lubricant is the culprit. Now logically, I would think that a lubricant is a lubricant-- they all contain the same ingredients-- however, there are no ingredients listed on the new product for me to compare.

What should I do? Assume it's a UTI? Could it be the lubricant, in your opinion?

Thanks much!!

I wouldn't assume it was a UTI. I would assume it was possibly a yeast infection. Possibly could be the lube, but I have never heard of it happening.

I would also assume its the Lubrication although when I use a catheter I dont use lube anymore but when I used to I remember occasionally getting gunkies from it and it was just the lube.

If she isnt complaining about it, I wouldnt assume a UTI, is her urine foggy? I took a medical course and that is one big sign of a UTI.

If you are concerned about a UTI though, if it is still happening after about a week or so, I would go to a doctor just to be safe. Better to be safe than sorry!! Goodluck!.
