Hello,
I am 29 years old and I have Spina Bifida. I am able to walk, however, I spent most of my childhood in the hospital correcting my legs, feet and back. I am married to a "normal" guy who loves sports. He is very understanding of my disability. Growing up I was told that I would only be able to marry someone who is a doctor or someone who has Spina Bifida. I was also told that I was limited in my opportunities for employment. Well today I am happily married and a school teacher. I still feel to this day, however, that people are always trying to hold me back. Do anyone else feel this way?
I am so happy to have found this site. I find as an adult I do not have the support I had growing up.
I look forward to reading the many threads on this forum.
