I need everyone's help for a blog post I am developing :). As we all know, when we are diagnosed we hear all about what our chidlren WONT do, instead of all the amazing things they will. I'm looking for a brief (say a one sentance thing) saying what the doctors said your child wouldn't do, then what they are doing. For example- The doctors said she would never walk, but now she is running. Use your creativity (since we could mostly all say walking ;))... maybe be in a public school classroom, run, jump, feed themselves, you get the idea. Then, I would like a picture or video of your child doing what they said they wouldn't. I am going to compile everything and post it on our blog (aworthyjourney.com). PLease e-mail me at jamie_lugo@hotmail.com, instead of posting here, so that it is easier for me to keep track of and so that it is easier to save pictures/videos. Thanks SO much!! oh, and if you are an adult living with spina bifida, I want your input too! Tell me something they told your parents you would never do, and don't forget your pictures!

Hi,

I'm not a child anymore so I don't know if it counts but drs told my parents I wouldn't go to mainstream school. I now have a degree and nearly have a diploma too.

The doctors told my mom that I wouldn't live past the age of ten. I'm turning 26 in less than a month and I know have a college degree and a job. He also told my mother that my legs wouldn't grow. I was mostly legs till I hit my major growth spurt in my teens.

My parents were told I wouldn't live overnight, and the humane thing to do was to let me go. I'll be 28 in August. I think I'm a little past my expiration date!

Hi Jamie,

I just read your beautiful blog. I will shop from your amazon link, I purchase small value gc's and thinking of buying a laptop soon. I just copy and paste your referral and you can get commission right?

With a lot of online shops, can get cash back on 3rd party websites, but haven't found one for amazon so far, so might as well help someone with spina bifida.

I have an idea graduation pics are going to feature strongly.
When Lisa Joy gets back from her trip you could ask her for a photo of her getting her PhD.
