Hello there! We are at the SBAA conference in Anaheim and are traveling down to San Diego tomorrow and was wondering if some of the Southern Californians could recommend a good Mexican restaurant. I am hoping for authentic!!!
Thanks in advance!

I live in San Diego. I went up to Anaheim for the singular Adult Day,or whatever they call it. As far as authentic or not, I have no clue. Not been to Mexico, even TJ, since 1982 or so.
El Zarape, on Adams Avenue is very good. That's in what I believe is University Heights district. I had their chicken enchiladas mole negro a couple mos. back. http://elzarape.biz/
About a block from me is a much more spartan place that is convenience-minded, but certainly way above Taco Bell/Taco Time/Del Taco. This place is called Lalo's, and is in a strip mall on the corner of University Avenue and Richmond Street in Hillcrest district. They make good chicken tacos, mole negro, carne fries (more of a California thing), and have much more.

As a little kid, my biological father loved El Cuervo Taco Shop, which I think is on Washington Street.(google any of these places). Still very busy (and not wheelchair accessible, though the other places are).
Some El Cuervo info (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?rlz=1C1DVCJ_enUS395&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=el+cuervo+san+diego&fb=1&gl=us&hq=el+cuervo&hnear=0x80d9530fad921e4b:0xd3a21fdfd15df79,San+Die go,+CA&cid=3726555790954610569)
Not sure which districts/towns you are hitting in greater San Diego, but hopefully that helps.
