i have been officially offered a job in san francisco...i love the city and have visited often...while the salary is fair and actually negotiatied for more its still falling short of what i need to actually live there. unfortunately due to my SB i can't haul laundry down a block or even downstair and paying 200 -300 bucks a month to park where i live is also cutting into my nice salary...im going to keep looking but not really knowing anyone in the city will make this move tough but its one of the best opportunities for my career, especially in the long term...tough decision and just need to rant because i am so qualified for this job and would really like this job and to think that because of my health its not practical...its not impossible but definitely impractical...if i could find an apartment with onsite parking and washer and dryer in the unit for $1800-2000 that would be awesome...pay less than half that for that and more sq footage in texas...on the positive note i still have a great job here but just outgrown it and no longer find it challenging but money in texas stretches more but career growth is limited in the tech field :sign0023:

My first job after school actually cost me! I had a junior data clerk job in the national criminal record centre in the capital. But after paying for the apartment and a twice a week char/cleaner, I ended up blowing all my savings by the time I resigned 8 months later. The thing that blew my budget is having to pay someone to do the cleaning and laundry. I lived within 10 minutes by wheelchair from work so I had no transport expences. I returned to the family farm poorer than when I left. All the other 4000 odd junior data clerks (except for 4 or 5) at the NCRC were 19-20yo, still living with the parents, so their cost of living was way lower and that's the profile they based the salary on.

well i finally moved as of last week from san antonio, tx to san francisco, ca. i know one person here (a good friend's brother from texas). he helped me get moved in and its at least one person i can call in the area. my good friend is moving to LA in a week so he'll only be 5 hours away and thats comforting since he's known me for over 10 years. unfortunately i had a pressure sore, the same one on my heel act up before coming here which i assume is from the extra walking getting ready to move. i was lucky to see my podiatrist before leaving and she gave me some references in the area and its healing. im hoping to bike to work but in the short term i will pay to park near the office until this ulcer is completely healed. the distance between my apt and the office is only 2 miles so biking is totally doable, even in downtown traffic. the grocery store is not far and has a parking garage and my apt has an elevator too. ive been worried more about my OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and anxiety attacks, especially being so far from my family. but this experience has definitely overcome some of my little OCD quirks, PLUS my doctor gave me a 6 mos supply of anti-anxiety meds and doubled the dose. anyways just thought i post my new experience. i start work on monday and that will add some much needed structure to my day.
