im 46 my sb seems to be developing quite quick since january this year, im wondering if any one else has been through this, my hips are hurting and the sac at the base of my back throbs , i feel weak and the pain seems to go from side to side my left leg i can hardly lift. i have shooting pains at the base of my skull . my bladder is weak no pressure , i have been very lucky with my sb i had surgery at 17 to lock my left foot in place, have had 2 car accidents the last 1 one was big my back went black with bruising and that went away . have noticed the veins above my sac are getting larger and i have more veins appearing in the centre of my back . also it feels like my legs are bleeding but they are not , are these symptons quite normalish would be gratefull for any advice .awaiting results of an mri scan thankyou

SB doesn't progress...but the secondary conditions it causes can. Maybe you have a tethered cord or your Chiari II is acting up. Soemtihng is defintiely going on and it may be SB related, but SB itself doesn't "progress" The nerve damage that was done is already done. Remind us what type of SB you have and your lesion. That might help us help you. Also let us know how your scan goes. If your scan doesn't show something up, I'd look into whatever test will show whhat's going on with thethering and one that shows the Chiari II.

good luck and keep us posted.

Ok A. go get an official diagnosis. find out your type of SB and your lesion. That will help you a lot. That's the first thing after you get better. It literally is "the more you know, the better" wehn it comes to your body and SB.

You need a referral for an MRI and for a follow-up with a neurosurgeon; also a urologist to make sure your kidneys are okay (you could have silent reflux).

Definitely a doctor and neurosurgeon visit are in order, symptoms are indicating tethered spinal cord (I am going through one of my own) and/or Chiari II issues. Definitely get it checked out by those who know. Car wrecks do begat tethered cords. Good luck and godspeed to you.
