LilBit, my 8 month old with SB has a fungal infection on her incision scar.
Her back is still 'squishy' where she had the lipo and, well, it seems as though a fungal infection has set in. :(
Anyone here had any similar issues? Any tips for me?
The girl sweats like crazy. I dress her lightly and we keep the house comfortably cool..she's just hot natured like the rest of my kids have been. But I guess the sweat has been pooling in that scar and thus the infection ??
Weird thing is, my 3 yr old also has an infection, though dr insists this is fungal and unrelated, purely coincidence.
Anyway...I don't have anything to worry about here do I? I mean, her incision has long since healed. Her surgeries were within her first few weeks. She's been all healed for...forever now. I just get nervous, being my first time for any of this, kwim?
What can I do to help heal this infection and prevent it from coming back?
Oh, we are using Nystatin ointment on it as it was prescribed for the 3 yr old and dr said we could use it on her as well. I'm just wondering if there is anything else I could do to aid in healing.
I'm worried about this going on and on. My 3 yr old has been fighting this for a solid two months now, in spite of our persistent care/treatment. He just got back from the dr for a steroid shot and antibiotics. I don't want to have to go down that road with LilBit too!
Sorry to ramble on, my head isn't very clear today and my 3 and 5 yr olds are running around and around and around as I type, making it hard to gather thoughts :p
