Hi everybody, I'm a student from Ireland doing a project on a young girl with Spina Bifida with another student on this forum so any help with any of my questions would be of great benefit to us and hopefully even greater benefit to her. She has AFO's connected to connecting rods which run up her thigh to her hips where they are connected to a pelvic band. One problem she has is that she gets a lot of bruising where the connecting rods meet the pelvic band. I was just wondering anybody else has problems with bruising and how they combat it or if anyone can recommend a good type of padding which might help? Any help is gratefully received.

I don't know about now, but when I was a kid, it seemed like the bracing people stuck either sheepskin or soft leather on everything.

Cover it with chamois or sheepskin with 3-6mm wool.
Also move it outwards a bit, I see the part from the hip-band to the hinge is straight, try "cranking" it with an outward bend just below the rivet/screw attaching the hipband and then bringing it back straight just above the hinge.
