Hi Everyone,
Since I have joined this amazing group, I have talked to Cameron about it, and even showed him how the site is layed out, etc....I was telling him how he "wasn't alone" and that there were many other kids just like him.
He asked me if there were a way for HIM to actually talk to other kids on here that have SB, or any of the many related conditions.
I have thought about it , and I think that it just might help his self-confidence, and possibly inspire him to take more control over his health and hygeine. Like if he sees that other kids catheterize, and clean themselves up, take their enemas, etc...... Maybe HE will stop fighting me all the time.
Also, I think it would just be fun for "our" kids to have a little "e-mail" pal.

What do You all think about this idea?

Thanks for listening,
Carrie AKA "Camerons Mom" [/B][/B]

The site is going to be undergoing a major over haul here in the next two weeks and when it does I will add a kids section :goodpost:

That's a great idea and I think it could be empowering!

I think we also need a forum for teens. Issues of identity, self image, sexuality, etc are a source of great distress for many teens - even without the added burden of SB.
It should definitely be a "no mommies allowed" area so that the teens can have the freedom to express themselves without fear of embarrasment. Only one or two designated adult moderators should be allowed in there to help out if something comes up that they can't handle by themselves.
What say you?

That is a great idea. Both can be accomplished during the upgrade. Do we have an offer of 2 people to moderate a teens section as well as a kids?

I'd like to help with the teens - I generally relate to them quite well.
For the sake of balance and to help out with "girl issues" I think we also need an adult woman with SB.

For the kids section I think we should have a mom/dad or two.

Would I be considered old enough to do the job?? I'm 23, but I find that I relate to a lot of the emotional/self esteem issues of the younger women/teens.

it's up to you guys..I'd be willing to help out if needed though..just let me know

I have a 15 yr.old daughter, and an 8 yr. old son, so I would be happy to "moderate" either site. I went to college for Early Childhood education and I am a Kindergarten teacher, and my 8 yr. old has SB, so I might be better suited for the younger group. Let me know how I can help!
