I am a new member here not really looking to get information since I lost my 15 year daughter Ashley, January 27, 2009. Born with Spina Bifida/Hydro/Chiari Malformation and what seems to be every other complication that can arise from Spina Bifida. I am very willing to share any information I have or experience we have gone through with anyone who needs it. I was always looking for information. She was truly an amazing child that was a true gift to have in our lives. We miss her greatly and just have some comfort knowing she is in no more pain. The pain she dealt with everyday of her life was unreal.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I can't imagine the pain. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking of life without one of my children. My heart goes out to you.
Please forgive my prying, but what was the cause of her death?

Thank you for joining. I hope your pain will become more bearable by sharing with us.
With the mostly positive outcomes and problems we solve here we have a tendency to lose sight of the tragedy and pain that does occur.

She had complications after a shunt revision with swelling of her brain which led into a seizure that stopped her heart. The doctors tried everything to relieve the pressure her brain was under but nothing worked. We still can't believe that she's gone. She fought such a hard battle, going through 165+ surgeries.
