I take the view that asking such questions is completely useless.
You just end up using any answer you might get to beat yourself up. Its better for the sanity of everyone concerned to try to let go of such questions - they have no sensible answer anyway.

AFAIK, NTDs happen around the 4th week after conception, by then a urine test usually works. Well after when you had the xray anyway.
